The Athlete Plus Veszprém University Program is here to change how Europe sees student-athletes. We’re aiming to help athletes get better at basketball while keeping up with thier studies, all in Veszprém, Hungary. We are providing a chance to study, play, and grow in a place that cares about education and sports career. Our goal is simple: help athletes succeed in school and in the game, getting them ready for life ahead. It’s more than sports; it’s about setting you up to lead and make a difference in whatever you choose to do.
We’ve built a program that fits schoolwork around your sports schedule, not the other way around. We treat all our student-athletes with respect, understanding that you’re here to grow in every way – as a learner, a player, and a person. We’re committed to providing the kind of support that looks after your wellbeing, pushes you to achieve, and encourages you to think bigger, both in the classroom and on the court. Basketball Program
In collaboration with the Veszprém Basketball Club, our program uniquely positions student-athletes in a nexus of opportunity, enabling participation in the Hungarian University League and the competitive European Youth Basketball League (EYBL) U20 competition. Beyond traditional league play, athletes are integrated into Veszprém Basketball Club workouts, exposing them to higher tiers of basketball proficiency and competitive insight. Participants can expect a rigorous yet rewarding regimen, with our commitment to facilitating at least two workouts per day tailored by our professional coaching staff. These sessions are designed to encompass skill development, strategic playmaking, physical conditioning, and fostering a resilient mindset. Our approach ensures that every athlete is poised to excel, not just on the court, but also in the broader competitive landscape of basketball.
We understand the importance of providing comfortable and convenient accommodation for our participants, which is why we’ve taken great care in selecting our housing options. Athlete Plus Veszprém University program participants stay in modern and spacious dormitory-style rooms within a walking distance from the Athlete Plus Veszprém Academy facilities. The comfort of the rooms is ensured by a small kitchen, a desk and a separate bathroom. Many rooms overlook beautiful Lake Balaton while Veszprém Castle is approximately only 1.1 km away. 24-hour reception, laundry and concierge service are provided for the convenience of participants along with free WiFi and private parking.
University Accommodation
Veszprém, city of county status and seat of Veszprém county, western Hungary. It lies along the Séd Creek, spanned there by a viaduct, in the Bakony Mountains, southwest of Budapest.
The town already had a cathedral and castle in the 9th century. The city is built on five hills and contains many historical and architectural monuments: ancient houses, the Cathedral of St. Michael, the Gizella Chapel with valuable 13th-century frescoes, the Baroque bishop’s palace, the Franciscan cloister and the fortress with its Heroes’ Gate.
The city is a road, rail, market and tourism center thanks to its perfect location: 15 km away from the most popular summer destination Lake Balaton, just like from the ski resort Eplény, and only 100 km away from capital city Budapest.
City is located only 15km away from the Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe and Hungary, and the most important tourist center in Hungary after Budapest. Lake Balaton and its surroundings offer entertainment and recreation opportunities all year round. In summer, water lovers can enjoy its internationally recognized beaches, while water sports enthusiasts will also find their opportunities.
Veszprém is famous about its cultural and sports life as having nice museums, two theatres and many sports clubs, focusing especially on ball games and achieving great successes in the Hungarian top competitions.
